Buying Used Cars

Have you decided to buy a used car? If yes, then you must plan the process of choosing the ideal used car for you carefully. Car sales expert believe that if you know how to ask questions, you have higher chance of getting a lucrative deal on used cars. This article is meant for people who have decided to buy used cars but, are not aware of the questions they should ask before finalizing the deal. Below we have presented the most important questions you should ask a car dealer while purchasing used cars:

Question 1: When was the car bought and from where?

You should ensure that the used car you are going to purchase is bought from a trustworthy dealer or any other reliable source. Once you know the source of the car, you must ensure that it accompanies all legal documents related to its ownership. This is important to ensure that you are not purchasing a stolen vehicle or a vehicle obtained via other illegal procedures. On the other hand, by knowing when the car was bought, you will know how new or old the model actually is. This will help you decide whether or not the car is a perfect choice for you.

Question 2: What is the exact condition/status of the used car?

The things you must check before buying used cars include: the cars’ engine condition, their mileage, the status of other car parts like the wheels, brakes etc and their external and internal appearance. Redoing the interiors of your car or getting it painted may not cause big troubles for you. However, not many would like to invest in a car with depleted brakes and leaking engine. When you are purchasing used cars, you must consider the cars’ mileage as the main factor for deciding their price. According to people with years of experience in car sales, it is sensible to avoid purchasing a used car with non-functional odometer or an odometer that shows incorrect reading.

Question 3: Have you made any investment in the used car in form of additional accessories, servicing or insurance?

When you are buying a used car, you must make sure that you know the frequency at which the car has been serviced and oiled. It is extremely important for you to know how careful the car’s previous owner was about its maintenance. For confirmation, ask the dealer to show you the car’s service records. You must also ask the dealer to inform you whether or not the car has had any accident and gather information on the kind of damages the accident caused. See whether there are additional investments made on items like air conditioning system, GPS navigator, stereo etc. Such investments will automatically increase the price of the used car (when compared to used cars of the same model but without hose accessories).

Question 4: Is there any warranty accompanying the used car?

At times even used cars come with warranties. If you are lucky, you will get used cars that come with warranties of 2 months or 1000 miles.

What to look for in car sales

Buying a car, whether it is used or new is indeed a very happy and momentous occasion. Though an average American household even today has around 2 vehicles per household, even then car sales continue have continued to remain robust except for the past three years because of the sub prime disaster that struck USA. What is the reason for people still continuing to buy cars even though fuel costs have risen dramatically over the past few years? The answer to the question is simple. There are a number of convenience factors that cars provide which no other mode of transport can provide. Traveling from home to work place and back is not an easy job given the kind of public transport. Hence it always makes better sense to have a car of your own. Further during weekends and in emergencies these cars are very useful. Hence it is better to always a car of your own under all circumstances. Hence there is no denying the fact that car sales will continue to pick up after a period of time though the going is quite tough these days.

When you are planning to buy a car there are certain important things that you should keep in mind. First and foremost it is very important to identify the right car sales company that has all the models which the customers may be looking for. Once such an outlet is identified the next important factor is to make a decision as a prospective buyer as to which make and model would you like to buy. This is not an easy decision to make given the fact that there are hundreds of models available across the country. The budget is something that should be clear in your mind when you are approaching the various counters which have many model of cars for sale.

There are other things that also play an important role as far as purchases of cars are concerned. You should always go for a model that is fuel efficient without being too damaging on the environment. Though diesel driven cars are economical in the long run they do cause damage to the environment. However, there are some models of diesel drive cars that do have the right kind of protection as far as environment is concerned.

Some people would prefer buying used cars though from the normal perspective it would be better to go in for new cars. This is because buying of used cars is indeed fraught with risk and problems. Unless you are a smart buyer and know how to examine the ins and outs of such used cars, many a times you may end up on the wrong side of the deal. This does not mean that there are no good used cars around. There are quite a few of them provided you exercise care and caution before buying such used cars.
